Behind the Lens - My Journey into the World of Photography
Today, we have the pleasure of introducing Kristina (K.Artistic), a passionate photographer, and delving into her unconventional journey into the world of photography. Despite holding a marketing degree and accumulating 15 years of experience in the field, Kristina has always harbored a deep love for photography. She will share her story, the passion she feels for this artistic form, and her work in exploring social and societal issues.
Kristina, how did you discover your passion for photography, even after pursuing a marketing degree?
Kristina: Photography has always been my first love. Despite earning a marketing degree, my heart never let go of my passion for photography. Through this art form, I found a way to express my creativity and create unique pieces. Each new click awakens fresh ideas and a desire to explore. Creativity knows no bounds.
What inspires and drives your work, especially in the realm of social issues?
Kristina: My inspiration comes from what I cherish the most - people and food. I also enjoy delving into social and societal issues. Projects like "Identity Fusion" and "Unspoken Messages" are particularly close to my heart, and I'm exceptionally proud of them. "Identity Fusion" explores the deep layers of human nature through a captivating play with identities. This portrait series unveils the wonder of blending different facets of individuals, creating harmony amidst contrasts. Each person is multi-layered, with "rooms" within them containing tenderness and strength, vulnerability and determination. These portraits explore the different "rooms" within each person and how they intertwine, reminding us of the depth of the human spirit. On the other hand, "Unspoken Messages" is inspired by the need to provide support to those carrying deeply hidden messages and emotions. Through this project, I invited people to anonymously share their inner monologues, which I visually represented through artistic photography. This project highlights the importance of listening and understanding, especially when it comes to topics that are often left unspoken.
What does your creative process in the studio look like?
Kristina: My studio is my sacred space, where I find peace. It's where I feel most comfortable and where the most beautiful photographs come to life. In that serene environment, every detail is carefully orchestrated to create the perfect image.
Your work is diverse, and you travel between Switzerland (Zug) and Serbia (Belgrade). How do these different environments influence your creativity?
Kristina: I live and work between two worlds - Switzerland (Zug) and Serbia (Belgrade). I feel privileged to have the opportunity to experience and work in these different places, as each of them inspires me in its unique way. This diversity provides me with distinct perspectives and challenges, supplying me with new ideas and concepts. Each new location brings fresh challenges and unique moments that I strive to capture through my lens.
